A long, long time ago, a wolf, a fox and a snake lived there. But these were not just any ordinary animals. They were patient and wise, and after much effort they acquired human form and called themselves "beastlings". Let's meet our heroes:

- Triratna, the wolf-forgiving monk, can see and cut the karma lines—the threads of cause and effect that tie everything together.

- Taiqing, the fox-giving priest, is an expert in transmuting fabrics and other Daoist spells.
